On November 30, Coach Kiffin accepted a seven-year deal to become the next head coach at LSU. Kiffin, having accepted the deal, requested athletic director Keith Carter to be allowed to coach the team through the College Football Playoff, but his request was denied. As such, defensive coordinator Pete Golding was named as the head coach for the playoffs, and is expected to become the full-time head coach moving on.
